How does it affect you if you were to snort a seroquel? Just curious.. :) Heard it is used in prisons and on street.

gotta luv da Li replied: "Considering that 25mg (lowest pill dose I think) is enough to knock out most ppl for 12-18 hrs.... a direct hit to the brain probably means lala land a wee bit more quickly. In my experience (bipolar, not street), there's no high, just some antianxiety and calm down effects, not to mention *groggy* if not manic. And, ya know, there's the antipsychotic effect it was developed to do. Idk, I guess it could be used to mellow speed/meth/etc, but that's about all that crosses my mind. The stuff's not cheap, btw."

sb1981 replied: "Snorting Seroquel (assuming you do not suffer from psychotic symptoms) will likely have the effect it does on non-suffering individuals who recreationally use the drug orally---only much faster, as the thin nasal mucous membranes allow faster absorption of the drug into the bloodstream. You will probably become "stoned" feeling, and extremely drowsy (especially if you're taking the medication with alcohol, marijuana, or other depressants). You may also become excessively thirsty. Be careful with prescription psychoactive medications. They're designed to work on the brain, and if you're using medication chemically intended to alter brain function (for a condition not affecting you), you are putting yourself in danger."

Snorting Seroquel to stop grand mal? I am on Seroquel to calm me before grand mal. I have a 40-60 minute hallucination of horrible things that cause me to hyperventilate and make the seizure worse. The Seroquel calms me but it takes too long orally. I don't do drugs but would "snorting" the powder make it work faster? Strange question I know but no medicines stop my seizures and I'm pretty desperate. Thanks. I'm just tired of the 5 year med game. I have been on every antiseizure med made and none stop them!

What would happen if someone crushed up SEROQUEL pills and snorted them? what would be the effects on a person? I know someone who I think does this with their meds.

Glitteroid replied: "It depends on how many pills they're crushing and snorting. Too many, and they'd probably get very drowsy or pass out. But if they're only crushing and snorting their dosage, than there technically would be no effect other than the intended one. Snorting is still ingesting. It might damage their nasal cavaties, which is really not a good idea, but other than that, there shouldn't be any harm done."

dakotagirl923 replied: "why in god's name would someone do this? seroquel is used in patients with anxiety, bi polar and insomnia problems. it's not a good drug to begin with, it can cause fatal pneumonia, heart failure, suicidal ideation and among other things a condition called tardive dyskinesia which is characterized by repetitive, involuntary, purposeless movements. Features of the disorder may include grimacing, tongue protrusion, lip smacking, puckering and pursing of the lips, and rapid eye blinking. Rapid movements of the arms, legs, and trunk may also occur. Impaired movements of the fingers may appear as though the patient is playing an invisible guitar or piano. snorting the drug is often done after taking other drugs like cocain to help bring them down. snorting anything is terrible for your nose and sinuses, they're simply not meant to do that, the opposite in fact...but snorting medications like seroquel is even worse since you're also snorting all the fillers included in the pill. the point of snorting would be to get it into your system faster, but this is a drug that's meant to be released slowly in your body, overdose is incredibly possible. they can also end up with a fatal condition called serotonin syndrome which is a result of too much serotonin in the blood. it can also cause your blood sugar to sky rocket, possibly causing the person to slip into a coma, not to mention all the problems that are related to having chronic high blood sugar as diabetics do. this is a terrible idea. you can DIE. it's absolutely NOT worth the effect it gives you. seroquel is a potentiall dangerous drug with very little recreational benefit from snorting. make this person stop if at all possible."

Can you get high snorting lithium or seroquel? My drug addict husband just told me that he was prescribed these meds and I just want to know if he can get high off them if he crushed them up and snorted them. he has done this in the past with other psych meds.

Duck T replied: "i am 100% sure that seroquel can get you high. even in small doses. some people snort it, and some chew it up, or just swallow them whole in larger doses. I'm pretty positive lithium can be used recreation ally also. hope i helped ; )"

Of course he can get high off seroquel. If you took one, it would knock you on your butt. This isn't any disrespect to you, but enabling is a problem in itself. is it true that if you snort xanax it works faster or has a diffrent affect on you? also is it true about lunesta,ambain, seroquel, and atavin? can any of those drugs be abused by snorting? i found some residue on a mirror in my bathroom and my roomate takes all those pills. he has a history of drug problems and want to make sure hes ok?

Steve B replied: "when I lived in Hazard, KY they snorted everything. The fastest way for any drug to give you an effect is by smoking it. It goes directly to the brain. If you found residue on a mirror chances are excellent that he or someone is snorting something. lol"

evil_kandykid replied: "Some people do that, I have never tried so I can't so for sure, but I have heard that it supposedly works faster or something. But snorting pills is pretty bad for you. The binders they use to turn them into pills are real bad for your nose. More so then alot of other snortable drugs. If your friend has a history of drug problems, and you found powder on a mirror, i'd say thats a pretty good sign somethig is up. Has he been acting differently in any way? More chatty? Less chatty? Nicer? Meaner? Anything? If so you might want to get some friends together and try to get him some help. Remember though you can't actually get him the help. He has to want to change. All you can really do is confront him with your concerns, and love him through it. He has to do the rest. If he does have a problem, I wish you all the best. My mom is a prescription drug addict, and I can tell you from experience its tough."

How much Seroquel, Klonopin, Xanax, or Effexor does it take (mg) on average to overdose? I really don't know how bad it is to snort the stuff, so if you have any input on snorting any of those meds or know about how much it would take to qualify as an overdose that would be helpful for safety reasons.

Effexor is a build up anti-depressant that takes a few weeks before any reaction occurs. Seroquel is so sudden and strong with your serotonin that you really shouldn't mess with it unless you want problems down the line."

But i highly doubt that if you are snorting pills you care about that. Youre gonna do what you want to but please think about your safety and dont overdo anything."

justme replied: "That's a really stupid question Nicole. Number one, no doctor will prescribe anyone a combination of those drugs at once because since 3 out of the four are mild to strong sedatives. Taking Xanax and Klonopin together, even without the other two could result in a coma or possibly a fatal overdose. If I were you, I would not abuse these drugs because the consequences can be deadly. Whatever you do, Do Not mix and Use any of these drugs at the same time."

what can seroquel do to a 15 year old who does not need it? i have a 15 year old (was diagnosed with conduct disorder) i go thru his room once a week and last night opened a paper that was folded into a football shape. as i opened it a powder came spilling out. i managed to right the paper b4 it all fell out and confronted him. he told me it was a seroquel (never heard of it) and that a friend gave it to him and did not understand what the big deal was. he was upset that i spilled most of it and even more upset when i would not return what was left. i vacuumed the floor for fear he would get down and snort it out of the carpet. i then went on-line and researched it and could find nothing about why a kid would make it into a powder form and snort it. can anyone help me out here. is this the new thing in school where kids are selling their meds. How concerned should i be?

dragonkisses replied: "Yes, kids r selling their meds, their parents meds....anything that they can find that might give them a high. I don't know the effect of snorting it. Seroquel is an antipsychotic. It is used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar. It is not reccomended for people under 18. It can cause dry mouth, anorexia, drowsniess, headache, tremors, low blood pressure, orthostatic hypotension (sudden drop in blood pressure when changing positions quickly), and somnolence."

bmac replied: "Jeezuz...that's new even to me. Seroquel is an anti-psychotic medication. It works to change the chemical reactions in a psychotic brain to more normal. Side effects can be dizziness, drowsiness, constipation, agitation and an increase in blood sugar levels (mimicking diabetes symptoms.) I have no idea what it would do to someone who is not chemically psychotic. But you do need to get him some help. If he's snorting THAT God only knows what else he's snorting. Not trying to scare you but....you have to take this very seriously."

Have your 15 year old do some research on those topics (an apt consequence for his behavior). I have found, as a parent, that essays are a great "punishment" because they force the child to think about the consequences of his behavior. Good luck."

Mark replied: "seroquel is for mental disorders like depression and hipper active and bi polar, if you eat it 1 tablet it will put you to sleep real fast and for about 8 hours and when you wake up your head will feel like it gained 4 pounds. and with herion you probably will fall asleep and swallow your tongue and sufficate , with just to much herion you can to dont fall asleep on your back or it will kill you for shure"

What would happen if I snorted my medication? What would happen if I snorted my medication? either: 300 mg of lithium or 1 mg of clonopin or 50 mg of seroquel what would happen if i snorted each? seperately. i would crush everything very finely.
