How fast will drinking caffeine relieve a caffeine withdrawl headache? I think I have a caffeine withdrawl headache...I'm drinking tea right now...How fast do you think before it will go away? Thanks for takin the time Hope you're havin a great day/evening!

DOTTY C replied: "I'm a big coffee drinker and it takes about 20 minutes for my head to get better."

pppmntgrl replied: "With the tea, you may need more than one cup, but it should start within minutes. Have you considered coming off the caff?"

racer123 replied: "I've read that the time from ingestion to the time that caffeine transcends the blood/brain barrier-(and into the brain),takes 4-6 hours on average. It's a mental diversion ,away from the withdrawal,if relief comes much sooner. It's like fooling the brain with gratification of the senses before an actual physical addition is made."

Should be Working! replied: "Caffeine is my only vice. I tried to quit once and the headaches were so horrible I couldn't take it. It usually works within 15-30 minutes. And I like plain black coffee to get rid of the headaches the fastest. Best of luck to you."

Donald replied: "I have tried to stop drinking coffee and drink Horlick instead after being influenced by my wife. Months later I developed a chronic cough and took my doctor 3 months to find out the reason that I am allergy to Horlick. I lost 10 kgs in this transition. Now my wife has no choice to allow me to drink coffee again. I look better and is believeing that I think better. I have also read a study done by Kevin Warwick in year 2004. According to Kevin Warwick, a cup of coffee may boost your IQ. Kevin Warwick is Professor of Cybernetics at Reading University, UK. He led a study which found that after a cup of coffee people's IQ went by an average of three points. The effects of the increase in IQ were short-term. Warwick says that the results had useful implications for business. He presented his findings at the Annual Training Conference of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. My belief is coffee cups can be easily cleaned but tea cups stained. Choice is yours, Tea or Coffee ?"

How fast does caffeine affect blood pressure? After drinking 1 cup (8 oz) of coffee, how long will I have to wait in order to measure a fair change in blood pressure? 30 min?

college_gal_83 replied: "Caffeine is in your system within 30 minutes, so yep...30 minutes :)"

How can I wake up faster without caffeine? I have school at 8:00, and I have to get up at 7:00. The problem is, I can never wake up at 7:00, because I can't wake up fast, and I just fall back asleep. Serious answers only please, and no answers like "just force yourself" or anything like that. Thanks! ***Update*** There's actually no way I can choose a best answer...they were all helpful. I tried the "two alarm clock" one, and even though it didn't help me wake up sooner, I'm not as tired as I usually am. Thanks for all of the answers guys!

xo379 replied: "Sunlight will really help you wake up. Either keep your shades open or buy this special alarm clock that mimics the rising sun."

Rachael F replied: "exersice you sleep and go to sleep around 9:30"

Jo replied: "very effective .......eating an apple really helps wake you up ...and lasts longer than caffeine"

~Lauren~ replied: "Washing your face with cold water really helps! Also make your alarm not buzz but play the radio. Listening to music or people's voices helps me wake up. Also make sure you're getting enough sleep!"

fdm215 replied: "Try getting up immediately. Do some deep breathing and gentle stretching. It will help you transition from sleeping to waking slowly."

Black Belt replied: "Get someone to shout and play a loud trumpet while dumping a bucket of ice cold water on your head, that should wake you up"

Libby H replied: "a nice cold shower or swim?"

Noelle replied: "Deep Breathing. It works 4 me! Good Luck"

silvervan83 replied: "try getting more and better sleep. maybe get a memory foam matress topper and go to bed earlier. and make sure you get into a regular routine."

Aboy replied: "if you wish get rid of tiredness early then i will advice you to eat two apples before you go to bed, they will help you get enough iron for your body which will make your brain more active and hence you will be able to wake up easily."

oklahomayne replied: "quit bitchn bout it, i get up 545 every mornin go 2 practice 4 a couple hours then school then after school have 5 hours of practice and liftin and film, then work then homework, then sleep, so fool u aint got reason 2 be 1 lick tired"

PETE WENTZ FAN!! replied: "spray water on yourself or hit ur cheek cold shower"

Sarah D replied: "well without actually getting out of bed i dont know how to help you if you can make it that far than there are a few options do stretches right out of bed such as yoga or push ups or if you dont like exercise head straight for the shower a blast of cold water really fast will really wake you up!"

Bob MacKnob replied: "exercise, or just quit being lazy. Grow up and act like a mature human being with a sense of responsibility and get to where you need to be on time."

Tina danielle replied: "make sure u have 8 hours of sleep....get a radio alarm clock and put it rly loud on a station which has good songs...its a nice way to wake up. get a coffee maker that u can program it to start making it at a certain time and put it somewhere near u so u can smell it and hopfully that'll wake u up."

CappuccinoTea replied: "i heard from my local radio before, you can try buying those type of dark chocolate that contains 70-80% of chocolate. it does help to boost energy (="

free_beer_tonite replied: "You need to have something to "look forward" to, and get excited about. The night before, you think about what you want to do the next day, and WRITE IT DOWN (this is what will cement it to your brain and commit you to it), and think about that when you fall asleep. While you are falling asleep, say "tomorrow, I'm gonna blah-blah-blah", and you'll find yourself tearing it up, I promise."

confused replied: "IDK if you exercise, but if you start exercising, you somehow become more energized. Eventually you will begin to wake up easily. I know this won't help if you need a quick fix, but you could try it. If you need something quick, well, just sleep earlier, if you don't already."

Lucifer replied: "Just get up, don't even think about going back to sleep, because once you get up you'll realize that you don't even need sleep. And start the day by turning the radio on and taking a shower, thats what i do and I wake 6am. Oh yeah make sure you're sleeping early enough."

ev1go replied: "Drink a cup of Green Tea right before you go to bed. It has to be GREEN tea since you are drinking it for the "Anti-Oxidents". This will make it easy for you to wake up in the morning. Believe me, it works. It might not work the first night. You need to drink it every night before bed and get in the habit. It's very healthy and is said to prevent Cancer."

Shairda replied: "Take a hot shower! thats what I do! or dab your eyes with hot water!"

siaosi replied: "condition yourself, immediately on awakening to do 30 push-ups"

Peter D replied: "Pour some cold water over your head! Maybe you should get a shower first before you turned cold water on or pour water over your head."

batabek replied: "If you don't wanna use caffeine to wake up, best way to do it is early morning excersise. Far east have been doing that for years. It regulates your blod streem. Getting out of the bed on time is a different question. I suggest, put your alarm clock to far end of your bedroom, so you have to get up to turn it off. (Try choosing a loud one)."

Christopher A replied: "put cold water to your face it helps allot to keep you awake"

Katykins replied: "I live very close to a highway that is also a truck route--when a semi blasts it's horn right outside my window, it is a real fast wake up! But that is not likely to happen to you at 7AM every morning. Maybe you could ask your parents to keep nagging you till you get up? Or get a couple alarm clocks with loud buzzers and place them at the other end of the bedroom to force you to get out of bed to turn them off."

bholukalu replied: "The most tried and tested method is self suggestion where the mind gets told to wake up at a certain time and it does. So start telling your head to wake up alert at 7 am sharp instead of telling it that you will fall right back to sleep. Before going to bed concentrate on your brain then tell it to wake up at seven sharp and alert. Or you can make it a partner and say aloud after concentrating on it' hey buddy tomorrow morning we are going to wake up at seven am and sit up, stretch and go for a shower'."

LostInLove replied: "I find the best way is wake up at like 630, do a quick face wash and and something good for you like Raisan Bran CRunch!! this gets me motivated..."

Angela V replied: "Sunlight, It stimulates your eyes - even if they're closed. If you sit outside for a few minutes it will make you fullly awake for at least half an hour. Or Red Bull."

Kel Kel replied: "Get an alarm clock radio. Set the radio on your favorite station. I love waking up to some of my favorite songs."

TheChad replied: "I hear you I am the same way. For me I have to get right up. Even if you have to crawl out of bed on to the floor. Just get right up. Washing my face with cold water helps too. I'd just get right up, get some water and splash your faced with cold water. You can try running in place and jumping jacks too, that might help. Anything that is going to shock your body to wake up."

music_literature_freak replied: "I have the same problem as you do, except I have to get up at 6:00 every morning. What I do to stay awake is I set my alarm 30 minutes early so if I hit the snozze button, I'll still have time to get myself up even if it takes a while. If that doesn't work for you, take like 3 alarm clocks and set each alarm 5 minutes apart so if you hit the snooze button on one of them, another one will go off, and you WILL wake up. I've tried it, and it works. Also, If you can't get more than one alarm clock, ask your mom, dad, or a sibling to wake you up if you try to go back to sleep."

canadian bacon replied: "set an alarm are two away from your bed for you cant reach it to turn it off then go back to bed. set them away from you for you will have to get out of bed to turn them off. after that take a hot shower that always works."

willie j replied: "This is my suggestion purchase two separate alarm clocks. Set the first one for 5:30A and set the second for 6:30A therefore when the first alarm goes off.It will prep you for the second alarm.Keep in mind if the second alarm goes off,it should be a mandate that you get up.You should also retire to the bed much earlier than you have in the past. Also you may bathe at night and lay your clothes out for the next day.Once you start a routine you may begin to form a habit."

How can end my addiction to caffeine and fast food? Does anyone have any tips to get myself off of caffeine, I drink a ridiculous amount of coffee and soda everyday and I eat out WAY too much. I get sick and horrible headaches if I go without. Need advice.

Anti-Hero replied: "Try to limit your intakes of caffeine and fast food by cutting down on it a little more everyday. Say for example your drink like 5 sodas a day. try drinking 4 sodas for instead for the next few days, and then 3 sodas the next few days, and so forth. Don't just try to stop all at once, its way to hard. Good luck..."

dan replied: "You can either slowly reduce the amount of caffeine/fast food you have each day or just go cold turkey which is the most ideal way. However, you can still consume them, just have them in moderation."

kitty a replied: "your eating somuch because you drink too much caffeen. it will be hard but get off caffeen first just drink water and no carbonated drinks (unless your sick and you NEED it) after a few weeks you wont even want ot any more than you an work on your eating habbits but you will notice that your eating has slowed down after the 2 weeks. good luck"

coachotis replied: "Find substitute drinks for your caffeine cravings. I switched to drinking different things to make my change. First i got off of carbonated drinks, by switching to teas...Then I started drinking different flavors of cranberry juices. I found cranberry/raspberry tasted much like raspberry tea...Try it. Junk food is a tough one. I think that most junk food is eaten due to a lack of time to properly prepare a wholesome meal. You need to find the time to cook a good meal. There are a lot of good tasting ready to eat at your local grocery store."

Does drinking lots of fluids make caffeine leave your system faster? I realize that caffeine leaves your body due to filtration by your liver and through your urine. I was wondering whether if I drank large quantities of water the caffeine would leave faster.

Iffy replied: "Drinking lots of water will flush anything out of your system faster than naturally."

lylotte replied: "Caffeine works as a diuretic and will speed up the passing of fluids.. once the drug has been absorbed it will work its magic until it runs out of steam.. drinking might hasten the process but will also having you running to the toilet faster than usual."

Victory replied: "Yes. The caffeine contains toxins, that stay in our body. They could be flushed out by drinking lots of water( not too much though, the whole drink as much as you can is myth, it can make your stomach huge). Just drink a glass, instead of half a glass every time you're thirsty. Another way to get the toxins out of your body is excercising(or sweating really)."

How fast does caffeine enter your system when it is drunk? I just drank a whole bunch of mountain dew. I mean, a lot. Really quickly. I wanna know when it's gonna hit me. Just downed another class. In 30 seconds. Big glasses. :D

lithiumdeuteride replied: "Get out a stopwatch and time it yourself."

snowboard485 replied: ""I wanna know when it's gonna hit me." The heart attack or the caffeine?"

Alfred S replied: "It travels into your digestive system and is then absorbed by your intestines, from there it enters the blood stream and subsequently the rest of your body. How quickly it is absorbed depends on tons of variables like whether you ate anything with the mountain dew, how fast your metabolism is, how well you metabolize caffeine, etc, etc... It should hit you within and hour or two I think though."

what happens if i eat alot of fast food and caffeine while pregnant? Iv been eating alot of fast food lately and i was wondering how it effects the baby?

Lisa McMuffin replied: "story of my life... seems like everything is going fine though, I usually dont have more then the recommended cap of 200mg a day"

Mommy To Be 12/20/09 replied: "You will get larger and the baby has a chance at being larger too but... it effects the baby, yes. They don't get as many of the vitamins and nutrients they need!"

Proud replied: "Its just an unhealthy kind of weight to gain. Eating fast food all the time is unhealthy even when you aren't pregnant. It won't necessarily have any negative effects on the baby, but it will have negative affects on you and your health. The problem is that if you aren't also getting plenty of vitamins and appropriate nutrients, it can affect the babies growth. Caffeine in moderation is acceptable, but drinking it regularly could potentially cause the babies heart rate to accelerate. Many doctors will tell you its just fine to have a small glass or can of soda every now and again, but you don't need to be downing a 2 liter every afternoon."

I heart avacados replied: "You will gain more weight than you need to, making it harder for you to lose your weight later and you will also have less energy for your new baby. Caffeine will get your baby's heart rate way up. Drinking caffeine during pregnancy is not good."

~Ariana Elaine due Oct. 09~ replied: "Fast food is lacking in a lot of vital supplements. Try to cut back at least a little, or maybe snack on fruits and veggies between meal times. And always take your prenatal vitamins! Those guarantee that your baby is getting the nutrients he/she needs."

pandoras_dark_music replied: "honestly i have been eating anything i wanted....including caffeine and and fast food..you just need to watch your weight and make sure thats not all you eat..thats about all i can advise you on, have a great pregnancy and a good day"

Does caffeine and fast food make you feel depressed? If you eat it/drink it alot then are going without you suffer like withdrawl symptoms.. is this true?

Tattoo Ted replied: "Yep - both very bad for you. Eat/drink small amounts."

Saint Misery replied: "No because i'm on Bipolar meds aka manic depression meds :)"

Maddy replied: "ummm i dont think so"

Dylan replied: "It's different for everybody, but I would imagine for a lot of people, the answer would be yes. If you're worried about caffeine intake, try eating an apple in the morning. It'll give you more energy than a cup of coffee, and it's healthier. And who can eat fast food when you've got berries? haha! Hope I helped you out ;D"

pittsburgh pirates replied: "I doubt it"

sngree01 replied: "Caffeine can make you irritable, which can lead to depression considering the results of irritability. Fast food is typically unhealthy, and can affect how you psychologically perceive your body, which in turn, can cause indirect depression."

Adalwolf replied: "Makes me very happy."

Drunken Sailor (Almost Famous) replied: "Yep, I dare you to eat one of those gigantic burgers from burger king and a coke....You'll be crying your eyes tomorrow."

Evil at its Darkest >.< replied: "Yes,u get fat theen depressesd"

Caffeine helps me think faster, if I quit will I ever be able to think as quickly without the caffeine? If you are addicted to caffeine does drinking caffeine bring you up to your "normal" speed of thought or does it actually make you think more quickly than average. I like the edge it gives me at work, but I hate the addiction.

Sota H replied: "the affects of caffeine are to boost ur energy and to boost ur thinking ok lets see here is you drink 1 cup of cofee a day that is normal if you drink too much caffeine it can really affect your brain because sing it goes through out your body after you drink mostly ur stanam and ur brain if too much caffeine is drwn to the brain you can really get damage i recomend another energy drink that does not contain caffeien i recomend 5 hour energy drink it's a shot that will give u the same affects of caffiene and no crash later it works fairly well try it and dont drink to much caffiene good luck friend"

Scorpius59 replied: "Get used to it. I tried to quit coffee, for a week, and all I could do was sleep. I missed my morning cup one day, and had a headache. Later that day, I drank just two sips of coffe, and the headache went completely away."

beeb replied: "I've had the same problem. I've had to give up coffee because it gives me heartburn. I have substituted with tea. I've found that the caffeine in tea does help although it doesn't have the same kick as coffee. It took me a few weeks to get over my coffee addiction, and afterwards I did not feel like I needed the coffee for a mental boost. That said... the coffee boost is unique, but you can try other methods-- like exercising or tea to increase your mental alertness."

knfister replied: "Studies have shown that those addicted to caffeine have a lower level of brain activity without it. Once your body adapts to the substance, you are indeed experiencing a 'normal' level of brain activity on the drug. It takes a week and a half to two weeks for your body to get over the lack of caffeine, at which point your mind will work just as it does now, and possibly better (as caffeine weakens your memory and makes you more succeptible to stress), without the need for it. Quitting cold turkey is horrid (can you say MIGRAINES?), so I recommend switching to tea if you're a coffee drinker and gradually waning it out over a few weeks."

Lixo replied: "You probably can but your body is dependent on caffeine therefore you feel slower without it. If you can mange to get over the withdrawl period + go to the gym, you should be able to think twice as fast People here as well tell their stories about their addcition to caffeine and how they managed to kick the habit"

Why does caffeine make you move really fast when you've had a lot? What chemical triggers that in your body? Like, I know caffeine makes you hyper and stuff but I want a more detailed chemical and biological answer.

outkast replied: "affeine is a central nervous system and metabolic stimulant,[23] and is used both recreationally and medically to reduce physical fatigue and restore mental alertness when unusual weakness or drowsiness occurs. Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system first at the higher levels, resulting in increased alertness and wakefulness, faster and clearer flow of thought, increased focus, and better general body coordination, and later at the spinal cord level at higher doses.Once inside the body, it has a complex chemistry, and acts through several mechanisms."
