I get headaches alot. Most of the times asprin works but should I be alarmed. I've seen the doctor a few times The docotor didn't seem like there was anything wrong. These aren't terrible headaches most of the time either just very irritating. Is there anything I can do about them?

Renee replied: "Could be a migraine. Trying taking Excedrin Migraine or tension see if that works. if not go see another doctor."

Helen S replied: "i kept getting headaches and some one told me to have an eye test. it turned out i needed glasses, then the headaches went away."

duece replied: "yes you should investigate more,it could be your eyes or high blood pressure but dont wait to long"

dramaqueen296 replied: "Don't be worried at all! I have frequent and even sometimes miserable headaches, and I'm okay when they're over. Sometimes Motrin, Asprin, or Ibuprofen work, sometimes they don't."

dbgyog replied: "pl see what suits you. If you are in cold country use all warm things. Pl try cold water bath and observe if in hot country, if pain increases use warm. If you have cough/cold body hot water bath will help. Massage and exercise in front of morning sun is good thing, pl try. Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief. If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture. There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache, Ear ache/ringing, Stomach ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic. Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it. Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see. Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds. The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more. Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole. Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits like dates, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there. But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong. If it is acute pl search a painful point (with round tipped pen/jimmy) 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds. For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below. It may disappear naturally too. Will asprin work on a Keloid like the piercer said? I got my nose pierced about 4 months ago. The piercer said that after 2 months I could change the nose screw. So about 3 weeks ago, I did. The gauge is smaller than what it was when I got it pierced. All of the sudden, this bumped appeared right above the nose ring. I called to ask what I should do and the piercer told me to mix asprin in warm water till it turns to paste and then put it on the spot and it should disappear in about a week. Is this true? Or is he bs'in?

Ipray replied: "A keloid is scar tissue. I doubt aspirin would help that. If you are talking about a Hematoma, which is a bruising of the skin, it might."

Fae Goddess replied: "I got one of those when I had my tragus pierced, the piercing shhop told me of a kit you can get that had some sort of esential oil in it or I could jsut leave it alone & it would go away in a week or so...I left it alone & it went away all by itslef, I dont see the asprin thing huring thouhg, Id try it jsut to see if it made it go away any faster, I know they are kinda ugly & if its on your nose you probably want it gone asap...best of luck bottom line though, dont worry it will go away"

Sadie D replied: "just clean it for about a week more and it should be fine"

Will Tylenol work the same as Asprin in a face mask? I've heard a lot of people mentioning crushing up asprin in a cup then add water and apply it to your zit/pimple. My mom said we only had Tylenol. Will that work? Just curious :D Ohhh, & Explain how to make the mask again, any other ingredients? Thanks. Sorry I mean... ASPIRIN.

Nic replied: "tylenol and aspirin are 2 different things, idk if it'll work"

Lucia G replied: "If it works with aspirin than no. Tylenol has different active ingredients."

Does Advil work as a substitue for Asprin? I read that to preserver cut flowers, you can add a penny and an Asprin tablet to the water. I don't have Asprin. Will Advil work instead? Thanks!!

Arlene replied: "No. but you could add three tablespoons of vinegar to help preserve the flowers I have even heard of putting a tablespoon of bleach but the penny is a new one on me."

sheAngel replied: "Advil is the brand name for ibprophen."

What works really well for the menstrual cycle? Like bloating and such? I usually use dollar store asprin and it works like magic for me but I DON'T HAVE ANY! So I'm in desperate need of something else. Will Pepto bismol do anything?

Steph replied: "Pamprin or Midol. They have a combination of drugs to treat cramps, bloating, irritation, water retention, etc."

Trina replied: "DEFINETLY NOT PEPTO BISMOL....TRY PAMPRIN OR MIDOL!"

How does Advil, Asprin, Tyenol, etc work? How do drugs such as Advil Work? How does it know where the pain is? Once in the body, does it turn to liquid form and then the cells move it? I don't care if you only know part of the question so any answer is fine.

May J replied: "Shuts off the pain receptors by blocking them with other chemicals."

purecherryblossom replied: "It's with chemicals inside the pills . it's really strong , so that's why you don't take al ot , it's a drug . XP ."

Juicy Fruit replied: "The pill dissolves in your stomach and is absorbed into your blood stream through your intestine. The medication does not know where your specific pain is - it's in your blood stream and it takes care of all pains."

Abby L replied: "they block the pain receptors in your body and numb the pain"

Andy replied: "Keep in mind, Tylenol (acetaminophen) works differently than Advil (acetyl salicylic acid). Basically they interfere with, block, or enhance enzymes and chemical messengers in your brain. The pain is still there, you're just not aware of it."

Crouching Doggie replied: "Habitat, your question is cool, suffice it to say that each of these inhibit the enzyme cyclooxygenase. That being said, a sophisticated discussion of the differences is within the purview of the distinguished pharmacologists who are the preeminent experts in pharmacology. I applaud your curiosity though."

Kristie The Crohnie replied: "Aspirin, or acetyl salicylic acid, acts as an inhibitor of an enzyme called cyclooxygenase, often abbreviated as COX. COX mediates the conversion of arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2. Prostaglandins in general are involved in the processes that cause pain and inflammation. By inhibiting the COX enzymes, aspirin prevents the synthesis of prostaglandins, and thereby reduces both pain and inflammation. About ten years ago, scientists discovered that there are actually two forms of the cyclooxygenase enzyme, termed COX-1 and COX-2. It was determined that COX-1 is found throughout the body and performs many housekeeping functions. COX-2 is found mainly in inflamed tissues, and is more specifically associated with causing inflammation. Aspirin inhibits both COX-1 and COX-2. Since COX-1 is found throughout the body, especially in the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and platelets, it is believed that inhibition of this enzyme leads to the unwanted side effects such as gastrointestinal damage (ulcers), renal dysfunction, and platelet abnormalities. Newer anti-inflammatory drugs, such as rofecoxib (Vioxx) and celecoxib (Celebrex) were designed by pharmaceutical researchers to specifically inhibit COX-2 and not COX-1, so they have fewer side effects. The mechanism of action of acetaminophen, the active ingredient in the Tylenol brand, however is not fully understood. It also inhibits the COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes just like aspirin does, but not very strongly, so there must be something more important going on. Since it only weakly inhibits COX-2, there is little anti-inflammatory effects. Acetaminophen seems to exert its pain-reducing effect more directly on the central nervous system by reducing the threshold of pain. This effect is believed to be due inhibition of the actions of chemical mediators that sensitize the pain receptors to mechanical or chemical stimulation. The antipyretic (fever-reducing) activity is exerted by blocking the effects of the chemical pyrogen on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center. Additional mechanisms of action have also been suggested for acetaminophen, including inhibition of nitric oxide formation that results from activation of substance P and N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor stimulation. Active research is underway now in many laboratories to more specifically determine the mode of action of acetaminophen."

will asprin work on a cat? he seems to have pain in his hip and i wonder if it would help?

ravennevermore16 replied: "NO DONT EVER GIVE ASPIRIN TO A CAT!! THAT COULD KILL THE POOR THING! Take it to the vet, or leave it be"

lightningviper replied: "No. It could make him sick. Don't try tylonal either, because it will make him dead. Take him to a vet."

Dr Christian Troy replied: "how would you know a cat would need an aspirin??"

Brenda replied: "NO - aspirin is toxic to cats. Check with your vet. There are various things you can get at a better pet store (such as PetSmart) such as glucosamine supplements, etc., that may help if it's arthritis, but you need to have your vet confirm what the problem is first. Arthritis medications won't help if he's broken or dislocated his hip, or pulled a muscle. Good luck!"

luisa_mapacha replied: "NO! Painkillers kill cats. Never give people medicine to them. Their kidneys can't handle it."

place_kicer replied: "Take the aspirin cut in half and at the same time give the little guy something to eat this way the usage of the aspirin will not cause ulcers to the little guy."

pommeroys_plonk replied: "It will work fine, if your intention is to kill the little beastie, a crime in most states, unless of course he is your own. I suggest you channel your aggression elsewhere. Cats can have unpleasant personalities, but all Life is Sacred. Shame on you."

chriss341 replied: "Yah, it should but it my die!"

micky a replied: "you should ask the vet and if he/she doesn't know don't try it you could accidentally kill your poor Innocent kitty!"

sashaaspen replied: "take it to the vet human meds make animals sick.If you want to help maybe let it lay on a warm heating pad on low"

Nightwriter21 replied: "Aspirin's probably the best non-pre ion pain killer that you can give to a cat or a dog. Depending on the animal's weight, one-half tablet of aspirin is all you should use. I've had veterinarians recommend aspirin, not any other over-the-counter pain medication, in cases where my dogs have had minor problems, including work done to scrap a cyst from the jaw bone. I don't think vets like to prescribe narcotics and use it only in controlled environments of their clinics. Aspirin will make an animal sleepy or subdued, which is why it is also good to use for traveling if your pet is usually quite active. As noted above, aspirin can cause some stomach upset, even nausea, so it is best to give the animal food to take with it."

pinky replied: "No you should never give any type of medicine to any animal..You should bring him to the vet and them if he needs meds the veterinarian will give him some..."

prince uranus replied: "i have no idea. i'd never give a painkiller to any of my cats or dogs without my vet's ok. that's why your vet went to vet school and is now addressed as "Doctor". take your cat to the animal "Doctor"."

catvocate replied: "My veterinarian told me to Never give aspirin to my cats, unless she prescribed it. She said that aspirin can be toxic or even fatal to a cat!"

Megan H replied: "Never give medication to your pet unless a veterinarian prescribes it. Aspirin may work well for us humans, but it usually has adverse side effects and provides little pain relief for our furry pals. If the animal seems to be in pain, the best thing to do is take it to the veterinarian. I know that it costs money - sometimes a lot of money - but in the long run, if your pet isn't diagnosed and given the proper route of treatment now, things could get far worse down the road. TAKE YOUR PET TO THE VET!"

knittedworldorder replied: "Talk to your vet, firstly. Aspirin is toxic to cats and would be dangerous to prescribe in the wrong amount. Also, glucosamine supplements for kitties are available...~~0~0&SC=None&Action=2&AnswerID=7fc28311-5af4-4d15-941e-3c18a5ba75a7"

Liana H replied: "Usually humane medicines are not good for animals. It can make them make certain types of animals very sick. Ask a vet."

Healthnut replied: "Never use human medications for your cat. If you believe he/she has a problem, take it to the vet. If you would like to use alternative medicines for your cat, you can look for a holistic or homeopathic vet in your area. Type Natural Health Solutions For Cats in your browser on your computer and you will be taken to a site that can help answer all kinds of questions about your cat as well as treatments. One of my cats went tearing around a corner one time and tore a ligament in his leg and had to have extensive surgery to correct the problem, so please do make an appointment to be sure that the pain your cat is experiencing is not something more serious. Good luck!!"

pennymaelane replied: "Asprin + Kitty = Bad news DO NOT give your cat asprin. If he seems to be in pain, call the vet. In the meantime, try to keep him as still and comfortable as possible."

Sam J replied: "no"
