What chemical in caffeine gives you the "buzz"? Anyone know which chemical in caffeine gives you a so called "buzz" idk, its a bonus question for my chemistry class. ive looked it up and cant seem to find anything, it just seems that caffeine is a chemical in its own so kali, which of those three would give you the "buzz"?

Does taking non-caffeine Coffee gives you the same result of the regular coffee? The regular coffee gives good energy and keeps u awake because of the caffeine so i wonder if the non-caffeine Coffee gives the same result i mean keeps u awake and good energy for sports? Doz replied: "I don't call coffee's "energy", "good". Decaf coffee actually does have caffeine in it, just much less, so it will give you a little of the same feeling. How about ginseng? I find it gives a better "high" than coffee, without the low that coffee has. Anyway, being drug-free is your best bet."

What are the benefits of giving up caffeine? I've recently given up caffeine (second day) and I was wondering what the long term benefits were. So far I've only registered a difficulty getting out of bed in the morning. It might be interesting to hear about any detrimental results also!

Whilst you may feel initial energy from caffeine, in the long run you will feel depleted and fatiqued. When you are stressed your adrenals secrete high levels of cortisol. High Cortisol levels is linked to increased weight gain around the misdection which is one of the most unhealthy places to gain weight. Caffeine is dehydrating (note: bad skin, breath) it increases cholosterol levels, inhibits the absorbtion of many vitamins and minerals especially b vitamins and iron. Caffeine is a drug. It is very addictive. Congratulations on quiting. It will take a few weeks before you stop wanting to drink it but by then you should be feeling great. Try green tea instead."

Tc and Bj replied: "I would not recommend giving up caffeine quite so abruptly because you're only on your second day and when your body complains - and it will - about the lack of caffeine you'll be tempted to have a coffee or cola to make yourself feel better! I used to drink coffee all day and suffered from awful migraines. I started by replacing 1 mug of coffee with decaffeinated coffee and gradually replacing all mugs with decaf over a period of 2 weeks. The benefits of decaf are; sleeping better, less irritability, smoother, softer skin, improvement in concentration and most importantly for me at any rate. . .no more migraines. Dropping caffeine all at once might work for you but be aware that there is the possibility of problems and buy some decaf if you want to try my method."

Does giving up caffeine really help breast lumps? I just found out I have another fibrouous adenoma --3rd one I had the other 2 removed --wondering what other options are--and someone said even 1 beverage of caffeine could cause breast lumps--could giving up caffeine prevent these? Thx!

Stephanie replied: "I always have breast soreness/tenderness. My doctor told me it was from drinking too much pop. So your lumps could be coming from too much caffeine. You could either give it up or try not to drink so much of it."

What happens if you give children Caffeine? I always hear people say "Don't give children" caffeine but what does it do to them and if it can do that to them can it do that to adults?

michele replied: "It does the same thing to tiny bodies as it does to larger ones (e.g., vaso constriction, increased heart rate, short term energy, tremors). The reality, though, is that a small amount wont hurt them (by "them", I'm referring to pre school and/or school aged children). Chocolate has caffeine, for example. A candy bar now and then or a few sips of soda isn't going to harm your child. Interestingly, one of the best ways to treat a child's headache is to give them a coke. and 1/2 peanut butter sandwich (just enough carbs/protein to balance out the sugar in the soda). Caffeine is a natural vaso constrictor (that's why it's included in many migraine medications). It's easier on their little livers than tylenol, it's cheap, quick, and effective. The old adage holds true in this case: "all things in moderation"."

Although some humans regardless of age, only their metabolism will let them be more hyper or in some cases if the person is hyper it will act as a depresent. Only a Dr. would be able to answer this along with blood work."
