Questions and Answers
Late period, negative pregnancy test? I was on Yaz for over a year and i stopped taking it recently because i went off of my insurance. I still used spermicidal condoms when having sex and did even when i was on the pill. Last year, i had been diagnosed with HPV and was advised to do so. Anyhow, my period is late, i took a test, and it was negative. I'm also on a generic form of Zoloft and wonder if that has something to do with it? I've looked this all up and came up with the same answers. I have not been overly stressed out and nothing much has changed, besides me going off the birth control. Has anyone else had this problem?

kjcntn replied: "I may take a while to get your hormone levels straightened out. Try going to. Click on the 'drugs" tab and type in Zoloft. This should take you to another page with a set of tabs. Click on side effects and if that doesn't answer your question, go to interactions."

Missed period, negative pregnancy tests, and no pregnancy symptoms?!? I am over a week late for my period, I have taken 5 pregnancy tests over the past mornings (all different brands, ex- clear blue, first response, generic) and they have all been negative. I haven't had any spotting or any bleeding at all, and the only symptoms I have had are changes in sleep patterns, fatigue, headaches, heartburn, and an off and on stomach ache. It doesn't really seem like clear pregnancy symptoms to me but do you think that there is a chance I could still be pregnant? Has anyone ever expirienced symptoms like these and ended up being pregnant? I know that other things can cause you to miss your period but I am just wondering if I could be because I take sertraline (generic for zoloft) and it says on the bottle not to take if you are pregnant. I don't want to stop taking if i'm not pregnant because that can make me sick, but I don't want to keep taking it if I am pregnant because that can make the baby sick... I would go to the doctor but my husband just started a business and we are broke so yeah, anything would be helpfull at this point! Thanks!

Kale is due 3/27/09! replied: "You might just be stressing out too much over whether you are pregnant or not, so this could cause the delay. Wait until you are 2 weeks late and test again. I used Clear blue after being only 3 days late and it was positive along with a First Response. It depends on how long it takes your body to develop the hormone."

Cheyenne replied: "Its possible your HCG is not high enough for a HPT yet. If you are really scared go to a free clinic and talk to them it will prob help. Maybe the stress from your new Business is making your period late? But those could be symptoms maybe not? =) best luck thou i hope i helped you! if not any"

Beehappy replied: "Don't worry about it, stress, illness and a host of other things can make you late for your period. When I was on holiday in china, I was 2 weeks late and really worried, but it was all down to jet lag and a really bad cold. Wait another week until you see your GP x"

backflip replied: "My dear, you are NOT pregnant although it sounds like you wish you were. I have four children and two stepchildren. I've taken the little blue tests so many times it's ridiculous!! They are incredibly accurate!! There are many reasons why you might skip your period though. One of those reasons is that you want to be pregnant. It is possible to delay your period through stress of constantly thinking about it. You also may have something hormonal going on, or may simply be skipping due to irregularity in your cycle. If you continue to skip I'd schedule an appointment."

missed period, negative test, please help? My last period was around June 23rd, I have regualr cycles. It is not July 29 and still no period. I took two pregnancy tests and both are negative. I recently quit taking zoloft and am not sure if thats a cause of the missed period? I have been having nauseous spells, itching breasts, headaches, feeling hot..mild cramping in my lower abdomen, increased vaginal discharge(milky white) but no period. Is it too soon to test? Should i wait a week or so longer before I test again? I was talking to a lady who told me it took forever to get a positive test but she was infact prego. I have been late before, but only by a day or two. and im not worried about being pregnant, im just confused. i have not been losing or gaining weight. and i have not really been stressed that much either

cestmoi179 replied: "you can miss a period if you lose too mch weight to fast or if your'e really stressed. missing your period is your bodies warning flag that you need to take better care of yourself."

heather m replied: "I would give it some more time. If you just got off you zoloft you may be feeling more stressed than you realize and sometimes stress can cause irregular periods."

First Response Pregnancy Test ? I had sex may 11th, and Im 20 days late on my period ! So far I had taken 6 preg test, all NEGATIVE ! I even took one again yesterday just to be sure, all negative ! I been under alot of stress this month, and I have diabetes as well, type 2. I also take zoloft for my anxiety, but I havent been taking it in like 2 months or so. I went to my doctor and she felt arould my pelvic area because I was having pain in the lower left side and she said she didn't feel anything. Im sure 6 pregnancy test dont lie, but Im wondering why I haven't started my period yet, and im constantly worrying about it ? My doctor thinks I might have PCOS, so Im going to find that out in a few weeks or so. DO u think the pregnancy test are right ? Im wondering if my diabetes can cause irregular cycles because i have them already as it is

carolinethefierce replied: "If you're pregnant, the test will turn positive immediately. Stop wasting your money on more tests - if six tests have been negative, you're not pregnant. It's probably an irregularity in your cycle - wait another month & see your doctor again. In the meantime, relax - everything's probably fine."

SoNotTheTypical replied: "stress can cause your period not to accure they say if u stress at all around ovulation it will throw it all off even if u gain or loss 5 lbs it can throw it all off .. so i dont think the test would lie and first response also can detect 5 days before you missed period there is a possibility but it sounds like u have to much stress going on and that it may have effected you period but i am no doctor .. but for the past few months i had alot of stress and i had gain bout 6 lbs and didnt start and the doctor told me stress is the main thing and weight is another"

All Love replied: "I know people that have taken pregnancy test and they were preg. but it didn't show but that is not common most are pretty well at telling. it may be because of your health."

Can Zoloft cause me to miss or have a late period? I've been taking Zoloft for about 11 days now and I should have already started my period. Can Zoloft cause me to have a late period or to completely miss a period. I've already taken two pregnancy tests and they have both been negative so I don't think the late period is related to pregnancy.

tommytheworstofthemall15 replied: "yes zoloft can make you miss or make you have a late period i am a male so i wouldn't know. Hope This helps"

zoloft withdrawals or pregnancy symptoms? I was on a very low dose of zoloft for a couple of months for anxiety (work related). I weaned off of them and have been completely off of them for about 2 weeks now. I am SOOOO tired all the time (for about 5 days now) that I feel like I could just fall over...no matter how much sleep I get. Also, my husband and I started trying to have a baby about 2 weeks ago and I know we had sex before, during and after I ovulated...so, I'm wondering if this extreme fatigue is my body still adjusting to being free of the zoloft or if it's an early pregnancy symptom. (I took a home test Saturday and it was negative but I'm not quite due for my period yet...it's due any day now). Thoughts? (other symptoms are off and on nausea but hunger at the same time and increased libido)

FnookleBerry replied: "Your body won't have enough hcG detectable in it until after you've missed your period, even up to a week or two afterward for some people so that's why your test won't read positive IF you're pregnant. When I went off Zoloft at the beginning of my pregnancy I couldn't tell what symptoms were coming from where!!! I was having a plethora of bizarre wacky dreams which can be attributed to either but the weird thing is that I don't remember an increased tiredness during the first trimester this time around. Obviously every pregnancy is different for every woman... sooo... all in all it's really hard to say WHAT you're experiencing... =/ I know I started smelling things more intense at the beginning of my pregnancy (it had me reluctant to eat chicken! LOL!) but yeah the nausea can be attributed to either pregnancy OR Zoloft withdrawal... it's such a weird thing to try and determine when you have something like that happen at the same time... I know I really didn't swing you either way but at least I tried to help confirm what you're going through! If you're not pregnant now, then good luck in conceiving one and if you are congrats!"

Preg Test, PCOS ? What ? I had sex may 11th, and Im 20 days late on my period ! So far I had taken 6 preg test, all NEGATIVE ! I even took one again yesterday just to be sure, all negative ! Micah, my Lil girl Due 14 Oct replied: "it could be the stress combined with the anxiety pills an the diabetes that is affecting your period... i would say that after 6hpt that you would not be pregnant.."

rhodes replied: "I know that worrying will cause you to miss your period but i dont know about the diabetes and for the pregnacy test i have a friend that can only tell that she is pregnant through blood work the other test always show negitive so there is a possibility."

Kristen S replied: "Anxiety can cause you to skip a period. That many negative pregancy tests should confirm that you are not pregnant. Pregnancy tests detect if you have hcG in your urine which is a hormone that is only present if you are pregnant. I"

Love being Preggo<3 replied: "stress and anxiety can delay ur pd.. i was so stressed out at one time that i didnt get my pd for 2 1/2 months.. just relax and take it easy"

Pregnancy question. Kind of gross but I need help...? Ok, I need to know if I should go to my doctor for a pregnancy test. I started my period on time about 2 weeks ago, it was really light and it only lasted about 2 1/2 days. This is not normal for me. It's usually on the heavy side and lasts 6-7 days. My breast are sore like how they are before I start my period, they never felt better this month. My problem is that I took a test at home and it was negative. I want to find out for sure because I am taking Zoloft and you are not supposed to take that if you are pregnant. So I'm confused on whether or not I should call my doctor or just wait for another period???

Kyasarin replied: "No harm in seeing your doctor - worst case scenario the test is negative again but they can advise you on medication. Do not cease medication unless advised by your doctor. Good luck!"

Anna D replied: "definatly call your doctor, or at least buy another pregnancy test.. the zoloft can harm the baby veryyyy badly.. and sometimes pregnanct tests that you buy at the store don't detect you being pregnant at first"

sp replied: "I think you are not pregnant yet. It will be better to wait for next period. sp"

Stephanie E replied: "Ive been in this situation. Make an appointment with your doctor and take another home pregnancy test, just to be on the safe side. If the test comes out negative, dont worry. It could just be your medicine or your stress level. If you were pregnant your breasts would be super sore. So just take another test and make an appointment with your doctor asap."

rockerdream12 replied: "Go see your docter, if your not pregnate then they'll find out if something else is wrong with you."

missgold7 replied: "go and see your doctor ."

debbcakes2001 replied: "Some of the home test are not accuate, so I would go to a walk in clinic and have a pap and a pregnacy test (if your doctor is not availible) to make sure that you don't have any other problems. Don't wait untill your next period. Go as soon as possible."

sparechange005 replied: "I'm guessing you're sexually active. Be sure and have your doctor do a beta-HCG test. The urine EPT tests do the same thing, but aren't as sensitive and you could get a false negative."

alexandersmama16 replied: "I get light periods now and i had super heavy ones for years. You got a negative but if you are really worried double check with your doc."

*Kandigurl* replied: "First off let me say that there are many woman who take Zoloft during their entire pregnancy without any harm to the baby. Being that you are on Zoloft this can be the cause of you having irregular period also. I would go to your family care provider and get a blood test to rule any chances of pregnancy out not wait for another period. Good luck"

Am I having a miscarriage? So here are the details. I have been on birth control (yaz) for a year or two now. I needed a refill a few months ago, but I was lazy about it and ended up missing a few days, which became a few weeks, and ultimately an entire month before I started on the pill again. It was stupid, but that's what happened. I did have sex with my boyfriend on a few occasions during that time period... We used condoms, but probably weren't as completely careful as we should have been. (Sometimes he put on a condom midway through sex, etc.) I started taking birth control again, but my period was about 2 weeks late. Worried I might be pregnant, I took about 3 home pregnancy tests a few days apart, and they all read negative. But I was having other pregnancy symptoms. When I finally got my period, it was very very light (not typical for me) and completely brown colored. Then it got heavier, and even darker, with a LOT of clotting. It's almost totally clots, in a dark stringy gooey substance, almost not liquid at all. (sorry for the TMI) And now I have had this strange heavy brown period for almost an entire MONTH straight. I am taking different multivitamins, supplements, antibiotics for a recent recurring urinary tract infection (which I heard also points to pregnancy), zoloft, and birth control... Not to mention I've been eating much less than usual and excercising a great deal more than I am used to in an attempt to lose weight. I know ALL of these things are no-no's when you're pregnant, so I'm scared that without knowing it, I could have been doing all the wrong things. I'm planning to see my doctor and gyno, so no need to suggest that. I was just hoping someone here had some information that could help. So could I have been pregnant and had a miscarriage? Anyone know what else my symptoms could possibly point to? Thank you so much for any and all help.

busymum replied: "sounds more like an infection than anything. your hormones could also be all outta whack because of the break in birthcontrol. Doesn't sound like pregnancy or miscarriage- glad your getting it checked out!"
